Since the environment and sustainability remains a cross-cutting issue for developing countries, an exciting development for Netafim SA is the expansion of our products and services into SADC countries such as Zambia and Zimbabwe. To date we have only been operational in Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique.
Similar to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Netafim SADC also recognises the importance of sustainable use and management of the agricultural and subsistence farming environments in the fight against poverty and food insecurity.
The Environment and Sustainable Development Programme, under the Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Directorate of the SADC, was established to ensure the equitable and sustainable use of the environment and land based resources for the benefit of the present and future generations.
Agriculture plays an important role in the economy of all SADC Member States and many people in the region rely on subsistence farming. Sustainable agriculture therefore directly affects peoples’ livelihoods.
We believe Netafim SADC can play a significant role in agriculture through its Drip Irrigation methodology.
