Quick Glance: 2023 SABI Technical Forum

The purpose of the SABI Technical Forum was to move back to SABI’s technical roots with a programme where we can all value from sharing knowledge among each other.

"As an organisation we want to protect experience and knowledge in the industry and the high standard of irrigation design we have in South Africa. We truly have an industry to be proud of, we are on the frontline of irrigation design and management. We must continue to learn more, tap into the latest irrigation trends and technology, and share knowledge. There is a sense of camaraderie among SABI members, and this was almost lost due to the challenges created by the Covid pandemic. But we want to re-establish the strong family atmosphere and platform for sharing knowledge. The speakers and topics for this year’s forum was carefully curated to achieve these goals and I am happy to say that it was very successful. Valuable knowledge was shared, important questions asked, and ideas exchanged," said Michael Esmeraldo, president of SABI and MD of Netafim South Africa.

The array of speakers took on issues around electricity, irrigation system design and how it may change, climate change and information that impacts design.

Here are a few striking quotes and questions from the day’s discussions.
