Our Experts in the Field

One of the pillars of Netafim’s success is its people. Through the expertise of our employees in combination with years of accumulated knowledge as the leader in precision irrigation solutions, our quality products can be implemented with optimal success.

The Netafim field team is structured in a unique way to ensure the best possible support for farmers.

The sales team works as technical advisors, rather than sales consultants. This is to ensure that each end-user of a Netafim product has access to the expertise to apply the product optimally in order to get the maximum return on investment. This team is led by Willem Smit. Our products are sold through a retail network and the technical advisors work hand in hand with our dealers to help farmers grow more with less.

Under the leadership of Charl van Reenen, the Netafim South Africa agronomy team offers unique agronomic support on the farm. Our agronomists support farmers with crop knowledge, scheduling intelligence, maintenance knowledge and much more. The field team is rounded off by the technical support services team who assists end-users with installations and maintenance.

Netafim has 33 business units around the world. Each employee in the office or the field is backed by a wealth of knowledge from across the globe. This means that every effort is made to solve a client’s request.

We asked Gary Frances, Key Account Manager for Netafim South Africa, what he does if it so happens that he cannot answer a client’s question. His answer tells us about the network of knowledge he can tap into.

“I ask one of my colleagues for help, starting with my local colleagues, then our team in Israel and finally the rest of the globe. We are extremely fortunate to have various platforms to interact with our colleagues throughout the globe.  I always find the answer through one of my colleagues. I have been with Netafim since 2005, and I have never encountered a situation where no one in Netafim had an answer.”

Netafim works in 110 countries around the world. The South African business unit also has the responsibility to support and service all countries in the SADC region. This is why we have a dedicated SADC team under the leadership of Charles Wright. The SADC region is a priority for us, and we are excited about the opportunity to help farmers grow more with less in these countries.

Johan van Dyk, a farmer from Standerton, installed drip irrigation on maize, soya beans and other crops. Using drip irrigation on these crops is a relatively new concept. He said the following about his experience:

“Apart from the benefits of drip irrigation in my fields, the highlight of my experience has been the amazing technical support I received from Netafim. They stood by me during research and installation and are still standing by me for maintenance and scheduling support. For most grain farmers, drip irrigation is a new but promising concept. It is important that you take on this adventure with the right team by your side.”

The Netafim experts love to share their knowledge, both on and of the farm. Visit the Netafim Knowledge Hub to read informative articles. Click here.
