Pieter Burger – Services Manager

Pieter obtained his BSc Agric degree from the University of Pretoria and after his national service, started farming. For ten years, he had the privilege to be a farmer. “I still believe it is one of the most noble professions and the backbone of every healthy society.”

Pieter then worked in the agro-chemical industry before he joined the fertiliser industry specialising in organic enriched and biological fertiliser. During this time, he placed a lot of focus on the concept of biological farming - or farming with nature. “I had the privilege to work with a wide variety of crops and in a variety of regions with their different challenges. I realised that the one common denominator in all farming challenges is water.”

Pieter joined Netafim South Africa in 2017 as agronomist and quickly developed his expertise about irrigation and water. “I have always been motivated by helping farmers succeed. I love seeing a farmer be successful after helping him to make the right decisions. Helping him to grow more with less.”

As Services Manager for Netafim South Africa, my mission will be to make it even easier for farmers to adopt precision irrigation technology across Southern Africa.
